Privacy Policy
The website for the 2nd Islands Water Congress, hosted by the International Water Resources Association in partnership with the Water Resources Authority of Jamaica, is committed to protecting the privacy of visitors, participants, and contributors.
This policy explains how information is collected and used when visiting the Congress website or registering for the event.

Payment Information
Identity Verification Documents
Certain registration categories, discounted rates, and visa-support services may require proof of identity, nationality, residence, or student status. For these purposes, we may request an image of a passport, driver’s licence, student identification card, or similar supporting document.
Uploaded documents may be processed using automated text-recognition tools and reviewed manually by authorised Congress registration administrators. They will be used only to:
- Confirm eligibility for a registration category or discounted rate;
- Confirm nationality or country of residence where required;
- Review requests for visa or entry-support documentation; and
- Prevent fraudulent or incorrect registrations.
Access to uploaded documents is restricted to authorised administrators. Documents will not be used for marketing or unrelated purposes.
Uploaded identity documents will be permanently deleted no later than 28 February 2027. A document may be retained beyond this date only where required by law or where necessary to resolve an active dispute, fraud investigation, chargeback, or legal claim. Any such exception will be documented, limited to the necessary information, and deleted when the matter is resolved.
After an identity document is deleted, we may retain a limited verification record containing the verification result, document type, review date, reviewer, and related registration number. We will not retain the original image, passport number, machine-readable passport data, or a copy of the identity document as part of that verification record.
Identity documents may be stored or processed using service providers located outside Jamaica. Appropriate safeguards will be used to protect the information during storage and processing.
To request access, correction, restriction, or deletion of identity-verification information, contact info@wra.gov.jm or islands.congress@iwra.org.
Sharing of Information
Information may be shared with trusted service providers involved in organising the Congress, including:
- Event registration platforms
- Payment processors
- Event management partners
Personal information will not be sold, rented, or used for unrelated marketing purposes.
